Many dance studios teach “competition style” ballroom dance ~ but this is the “Social Ballroom Dance Style”, meaning less rigid and more fun! Participants will learn the basics plus many more dance moves and amalgamations to a variety of "Smooth Ballroom Dances" and “Latin Dances” in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Smooth Dances to include: both the Westchester (Box) and Magic Step Foxtrots, Slow and Viennese Waltz, and the Traditional Polka. Latin Dances to include: all three rhythms of the Cha Cha, Mambo, Rhumba, Merengue, American Tango, Bachata and the ‘new’ Bachatango. To enhance versatility, dancers will dance to typical 'ballroom' and Latin dance music, and also to Country Western, Pop, Rock, Big Band, and EDM tunes. Dancers will learn distinctive dance styling for all dances, leading and following techniques, and dance/music distinction. Beginning level moves and twirls will be taught using the "Dance Move Building Block" method. Once one pattern is learned the remaining patterns become easier. Dancers will also be able to develop and create their own dance moves and amalgamations utilizing the “Dance Move Paradigm” technique. Practice dance music and links to instructional videos provided so participants can practice. Class is designed for beginning dancers. No experience necessary.
