Basic cooking and knife techniques will be taught as well as kitchen safety and Mis-en-Place.
There will be sampling in class, but please bring take-home containers for leftovers. Don't forget your apron!
Come join us for a fun culinary trip back to the 1950’s! We’ll explore the more popular midcentury cooking trends and take a humorous look at some of the popular retro recipes, including the frequent use of gelatin, mayonnaise, and ginger-ale in almost everything! Convenience foods and TV dinners appeared in that era, but many wonderful home cooked meals still came out of those 50's kitchens, some of which we'll be making in this class. These include the iconic "Fire Ants on a Log" appetizer, Creamy Chicken Ritz Mushroom Casserole, and the era defining dessert: Ambrosia Salad.
